Hawai mithai
Hawai mithai is candy floss: sugar melted and spun in a machine into a fluffy, usually pink cloud, sold at fairs and by street hawkers.
Era: 90s & 2000s
What it was like
It melted the moment it touched your tongue and left your hands sticky for the rest of the day. Some sellers carried it in a glass box, others hung bags of it from a tall pole.
You can still find it at fairs, but it never looks as big as it did back then.
