Saved tiffin money

Saving tiffin money meant keeping the coins you got for school snacks in a clay bank or a box instead, to buy something you really wanted.

Era: 90s & 2000s

What it was like

A taka or two at a time, saved up for a cricket ball, a comic or an Eid toy. The day you broke the clay bank felt like a festival.

That money was often saved on an empty stomach, which made the shopping all the sweeter.

Questions

What is a clay bank?
