Songs on a memory card
Loading songs onto a memory card meant paying a phone shop a small fee to fill your card with songs, videos or pictures of your choice.
Era: 2000s
What it was like
The internet was slow and expensive, so the shop's computer was the music library. You handed over a written list and the shopkeeper filled your card.
Friends swapped songs over Bluetooth too, sometimes waiting minutes for a single track.
