BTV Friday film
The BTV Friday film was the full-length Bangla feature that Bangladesh Television showed on the weekly-holiday afternoon, a fixed family event through the 1990s and 2000s.
Era: 90s & 2000s
What it was like
Before satellite channels reached most homes, BTV was the main thing on. Friday lunch ended and everyone moved in front of the TV, with tea during the ad breaks.
Many homes had only one TV, so neighbours came over too. Nobody always knew which film it would be; waiting for it to start was part of the fun.
